Ice Cube has opened up about his recent conversation with Kanye West, who had previously accused him of being the source of his antisemitic views.
The rapper and actor said that he and Ye had cleared the air and reached an understanding.
Ice Cube and Kanye West’s Antisemitic Controversy
The beef between Ice Cube and Kanye West started in October 2022, when Ye went on the Drink Champs podcast and claimed that Cube had influenced him to “get on this antisemite vibe”.
He said that Cube had told him that Jewish people were responsible for the oppression of Black people and that they controlled the media and the banks.
Ice Cube was quick to deny these allegations, tweeting that he was “not antisemitic and never have been”.
He also expressed his disappointment that Ye had dragged his name into the “bullshit” and asked him to “please leave my name out” of the conversation.
Ice Cube has faced accusations of antisemitism himself in the past, especially for some of his lyrics and statements that were critical of Jewish people in the entertainment industry.
However, he has always maintained that he was not against Jewish people as a whole, but only against those who exploited Black artists.
Ice Cube and Kanye West’s Reconciliation
In June 2023, Ice Cube and Kanye West were spotted hugging it out on the streets of Los Angeles, signaling that they had buried the hatchet.
TMZ reported that Ye had visited Cube’s house in LA the day before and that they had a productive talk.
Ice Cube confirmed this in a recent interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV, saying that they were always cool and that Ye had just spoken his name without explaining what he meant.
He said that they had talked and that Ye understood that generalizing would always get him in more hot water than being specific.
Ice Cube also said that he believed Ye was doing great and that he was in a good space, despite some people trying to hold onto his money.
He said that Ye was still dealing with some business issues, but for the most part, he was doing well.
